Bollywood in Sheffield - A city for all people

It is really a city for all people, especially the people who are 

fascinated with Indian movies from the world.



雪菲爾這幾年真是國際年。先是去年成為威尼斯建築雙年展英國館

的主題城市，今年，先成國際花式撞球比賽的比賽地點，這幾天，

又接著舉辦著Internaional Idian Film Academy Award.(IIFA)



不知道是什麼？好，換個名詞說吧，寶萊塢知道吧？美國有的好萊

塢，印度有個寶來塢。好萊塢有個奧斯卡，寶萊塢也有個奧斯卡。

去年全球有一百一十個國家、超過五億人收看寶萊塢奧斯卡的頒獎

典禮，今年在雪菲爾舉辦的。寶萊塢，是印度文化近年來出口與推

銷最重要的方式之一，並很快成為全球電影工業最大生產地。成為

足以跟好萊塢文化工業抗衡的東方珍珠。BBC有些片段，有趣的是

好萊塢有紅地毯，寶萊塢是... 綠地毯，大家可以瞧瞧。剛剛聽一下

新聞，好像是因為要大家注意全球暖化的問題，所以用了綠地毯。

學校內有位牙醫系的印度學生被選為典禮中服裝的摩特爾，她講了

一段話，跟我做的研究還真蠻相呼應，看來頗有感觸。



"I am very privileged and honoured to be given the opportunity to 

represent young British Asians in the UK on such an auspicious 

occasion broadcast to millions across the globe. I feel that given 

all the negative publicity in recent years of Asians in the UK this is 

our opportunity to make a statement about the telling contributions 

that the youth are making in the West whilst upholding the inherent 

cultural values of the East"



(請不要訝異於報導或女學生用Asian這個字。在英國，亞洲人就是

印度人，所以請不要隨便說你是亞洲人... XD)
